In the Presence of Brighid: An Imbolc Day Retreat

02/02 10.00 -05.30 An all day retreat at the Appalachian School of Holistic Herbalism. Facilitated by Jude Lally & Byron Ballard.

Both Jude & Byron are independent scholars, having published work on their research of Brighid. They are both featured in the upcoming book ‘Brigit: Sun of Womanhood’ published by Goddess Ink and edited by the late Patricia Monaghan.
Our day will offer a devotional retreat where we will create sacred space through ritual, singing, art, chanting, meditation and discussion to honor the Goddess Brighid.
Each person will create a design on a scarf, veil or ruanna (which you provide) reflecting elements of your relationship with Brighid. These garments then will be consecrated as we wear them in ritual. Full instruction in needle felting and all craft materials will be provided.

Pricing: We are offering an early bird discount of $79 if you prepay by 01/30, otherwise $89 on the day. Payment by PayPal or check.

Brighid’s Brooch – An afternoon Imbolc Workshop

* We will create a needle felted brooch inspired by the Goddess Brighid using yarn, wool, beads. We will also discuss how to set your intention of your brooch.

* Meditation (inspired by a very ancient Brighid)

Masks of Morrighan

6/7 7-9 pm and 6/8 3.30 - 8pm. Facilitated by Jude Lally, Byron Ballard and Cat Shepard

The Morrighan, Great Queen, Banshee – she is known by many names. She is a triple Goddess, whose names are always changing. She is crow and wolf and cow – all with their own meanings. She is a member of the Tuatha De Danann and yet sources hint that she is much, much older and a Cailleach, the most ancient race of mothers.

* Learn about her various guises & energies and how we can bring them into our lives to inspire and empower

* On the friday night we will gather, share food as we make our basic masks which will be left to dry overnight.(If you are unabe to make friday night you can bring a mask with you on Saturday)

* Sat we will decorating our masks. There will be materials provided but we invite you to bring your own special items you may wish to use

* Sharing stories, ritual, song

* We will end with a wonderful fire ceremony in which we will wear our masks. We will hopefully have a dancer who will lead us into this ritual

* Lunch will be provided and we will provide a resource pack. Price $89

Honoring the Ancient Goddess

05/26 10.30 – 4.30 pm Location: North Asheville. $55

A day for the Ancient Goddess. A day out of time where the outside world stills as we enter into sacred space, held by the Great Mother. We will gather together in our day retreat to share stories of what the ancient Goddess means to us personally, and let her work through our hands in creating sacred art.

* We will share photos of ancient goddess figures discussing the time periods in which they were created and share what images call to us, and what that calling through thousands of thousands of years means to us personally.

* Guided meditation to take us back to the roots of the Great Mother.

* We’ll answer the call of the Great Mother and share our intentions for our creations and then how we can integrate our creations into our daily lives to strength our ties to her.

* Lunch will be provided but you are invited to bring something to share.

* In the afternoon we will create a figurine or pendant from air dried clay. We’ll discuss how to work in a meditative way with inspired music, incense and red ochre setting our scene.

* We will finish by collectively creating a simple ceremony to consecrate our art. And tell the beginnings of the story of what we have created.

* Also please bring anything you’d like to place on our altar

Celtic Landscapes

* Guided meditation exploring spiritual places of power

* We will gather together in circle to share stories of our own sacred landscapes

* In the afternoon we will create a needle felted Celtic landscape inspired by our shared stories & slideshow

* Our piece can take the form of a roll-able alter wall hanging with optional pocket for offerings & gratitude’s

* Lunch will be provided although you are invited to bring a small dish to share

Cauldron Magic

* In circle we’ll share what the cauldron means to us, the cauldron as a symbol of transformation and the cauldron throughout history.

* Working with the cauldron – divination & ritual

* The 3 cauldrons – exploring the concept of the Celtic chakras

* Creative piece: We will create a needle felt wall hanging with the main focus a cauldron. This can also be a pocket which is used as an offering holder.
